Many
different illnesses or conditions may delay or interrupt normal
development of a child’s motor skills, such as sitting alone,
crawling, or walking. Here at CTS, we understand that the needs
of children and their families are unique and we develop an individual
treatment plan designed especially for each child to meet their
needs. Our team evaluates a child using standardized tests and then
develops an age-appropriate rehabilitation plan specific to the
child’s needs.
The
Physical Therapy staff at CTS offers assessment and treatment focusing
on improving mobility, posture, balance, gait, coordination, muscle
strengthening, range of motion, attaining developmental milestones,
and use of adaptive equipment. Physical therapists at CTS incorporate
treatment using Neurodevelopment treatment, myofascial therapy,
sensory integration, therapeutic exercise and gait training to meet
the child’s goals.
Our
therapists work out of our new Occupational/Physical Therapy clinic
and gym at our main office in Richardson. The treatment gym provides
the child a safe, challenging and fun atmosphere to help the child
achieve gross motor skills. Treatment equipment includes a child’s
rock climbing wall, various sensory stimulation swings, a pillow
pit, trampoline, and much more.
Involving
the family in the child’s treatment program is of utmost importance
to the staff at CTS.
